Products that I would like for fall

Following Arabelle’s post about what she’s looking forward to for fall when it comes to products, here are a couple products that I want to try and why!

1. Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Gilded Wine (RS612) ($25): For the most part this year I have been controlling my lip product purchases because I surpassed Arabelle’s lip product collection and I have no idea how that happened. However, one of the samples that she gave me last year was one of the Perfect Rouge lipsticks, and I absolutely fell in love with the formula (completely underrated in my opinion, it’s a great formula), so I want to pick another one up. In addition, with my multitude of lipsticks, I’m missing deep purple colors which complement my skintone so it’s like killing two birds with one stone? Yeah? Justification is great? haha

2. Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Empress ($28): …I was totally going to list Raven as the color I wanted to buy but again Arabelle and I share the same brain AND SHE TOTALLY PICKED THAT ONE. :C I need deeper lip products okay I own a lot of the lighter end of things. The finish on these look really pretty as well and I want to compare it to my YSL Glossy Stain.

3. Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint (~$6): I have rediscovered my love of lip tints since I found a mini Benetint in my collection a couple weeks ago. I don’t particularly want to spend the money for a full-size Benetint so I want to try this Etude House one. And the packaging is adorable!

Fall Back to School Beauty pt. 2 - Makeup Picks

makeup picks

Hello everyone~ o/ These are my (Chi-Chi’s) back-to-school recommendations! I’m going to avoid base makeup products because 95% of the tinted moisturizers and foundations I have tried break me out and the short list I have left are all high-end brands and not necessary for back-to-school. That said, there is one pressed powder that I love enough to recommend listed below!

NYX Round Lip Glosses
: These are really nice for muted school looks, especially if you do not like the feel or look of lipsticks. They last for a couple hours (the three colors I own last for three to five hours) and the colors are very pigmented.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: These lipsticks are great, especially in the Creme finishes, which is the only type I own. They are quite moisturizing, last for a decent amount of time for drugstore lipsticks, and come in a variety of colors. The colors include some beautiful plum, pink and berry shades, which are perfect for fall, such as Pink Velvet and Cherries in the Snow.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in For Audrey: This is one of my favorite polishes ever (and one of the most hyped colors in makeup blogging land). That said, when I have no idea which color I want to wear, I always go back to this one. It’s a gorgeous seafoam green that lasts for almost a week with a good top coat.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Dulce De Leche: For people looking for a more neutral nail polish for this back to school season, look no further than OPI’s Dulce de Leche. This is my go-to nail polish for interviews and it lasts quite a long time with a nail polish. OPI can be found at most larger department stores, local salons and on eBay.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: For people with minor skin flaws or for people who like using as little base makeup as possible, this is my recommendation for you! It provides nice sheer coverage and is an amazing finishing powder for foundations and/or tinted moisturizers, especially for those who have oily skin. This is the only setting powder I have ever used that controlled my oily skin almost all day and did not make my face look cakey. Finally, I rarely do touchups when I apply this powder in the morning, which is always a welcome bonus.

And that’s it! Stay tuned for both Arabelle and my back to school skincare recommendations and more tips and tricks for the upcoming school year.

Fall Back to School Beauty

If you’re like me, you’re getting ready to get back to dorm life, or maybe just back into the high school hallways. Since being in college means you’re also PERPETUALLY POOR, we tried to stick to more affordable items with minimal splurging.

Arabelle’s Picks (above):

  • NYX Matte Lipstick: Such a good, inexpensive matte lippie with all the colors you’d want. Into it. MATTE FOREVER.
  • NYX Nude on Nude: This is essentially Urban Decay’s Naked Palette, but with more shadows (and lip color!) at half the price. Obviously if you have the Naked Palette, this is unnecessary, but if you don’t and would rather not splurge this is a great alternative and the shadows are lovely. Any combination of these shadows would look wonderful with a plum lip in the fall, don’t you think?
  • E.L.F Blush: I don’t think it’s really necessary to buy a blush for fall, so I’m really just suggesting that you get a deepish rosey pink color, instead of the orange and corals you used for summer months. You’re going for the brisk walk in the park look, not so much a summer glow anymore. You probably have a nice dusty rose color in your stash, pull that out again. Or try out an E.L.F shade for minimal investment.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner: I feel really predictable right now but I totally love this eyeliner so I don’t care!!! It’s worth the investment. I am also into the Milani Liquif’Eye Pencils. I think if you’re looking for a liquid eyeliner, go for UD, if you want a pencil, go for Milani. Again, jewel tones. Dark green, purple, brown, black.
  • Essie Nail Polish in Midnight Cami: This is an old color (released in 2009), but there is bound to be a similar color coming out from SOME company, and I’m definitely going to snatch it up. I love my bright bold crayola colors, but right now I’m smitten with shimmery velveteen colors like bronze, emerald, and this beautiful blue. You should check out the swatches of this polish, they’re gorgeous.
  • E.L.F Studio Stipple Brush: Best. stipple. brush. ever. If you don’t already have it, get it.

Stay tuned for Chi-Chi’s picks, and more Back-to-School posts. :)
