Products I’ve been liking recently~ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Here are a couple products that I am loving right now. Most of them are products I already had in my collection, which is always nice - shopping your current collection is always a good thing.
REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask ($55) | link: Purchased a gift set from Sephora including this mask a little over a month ago, and I’m hoping it will jump start my acne scar reduction with the other topical products I’m using. I quite like it - for the newer scars, it takes away almost all of the redness and for the older scars, slowly but surely it helps. Pleased so far with this product’s performance, but we’ll see.
L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bottomless Java 800 ($6.99) | link: I have quite a bit of these eyeshadows (swatched a part of my collection here) and love them because they are one of the few formulas where I don’t have to use a primer before application. Loving using this as an all over the eye color slightly winged out, a great lazy day eye makeup look.
CoverGirl Queen Collection Lipcolor Lipstick in Classy Coral Q500 ($6.99) | link: The funny thing is that I have been trying to use a different lipstick every day and I found this in my drawer and…I love it. On my lips it shows up as a terracotta coral with a tad bit of red. It’s beautiful~ I want to get more colors like this; terracotta is an interesting color. It last for around four hours and both of us really like the CoverGirl Lip Perfection lipstick line - check here for swatches/mini-reviews.

OCC Lip Tar - Hoochie CoverGirl Divine Inglot Lipstick in 65 occ, cg, then inglot

powderdoom:

We recently had a few questions on the best purple lippie out there, so I thought I’d share some more of my purples. I have already found my dream purple — worn and swatched here — but I have purchased several on the way to find it, these 3 being the main contenders.

  • OCC Liptar in Hoochie ($14) - I love this product, it’s going to be my main haul at IMATS. They just released a darker purple which I’m definitely going to buy. I like this, it’s just not practical to swipe on, you need a brush or qtip. Mix with the black lip tar for a darker purple or a lighter one for a paler one. Great purchase imo.
  • CoverGirl Divine ($6) - I love CG lipsticks, this one isn’t great though and I’d skip it. It tends to seperate weirdly on my lips. Color doesn’t spread evenly, it’s high maintenance. The other colors I’ve tried from CG are nice though.
  • Inglot Lipstick in 65 - ($10???) Impulse rage purchase because the lipstick I wanted at Sephora was sold out (for the 6th time or something). I just went into Inglot and make puppy eyes at the SA and he soothed my makeup pains and led me to this. After wearing it a few times I wish I didn’t buy it, cause it is so SO sheer and separates in like .22424 seconds though it looks nice in these photos, it’s not something I’d recommend. You can even see it seperating in the last photo with the swatches! Blah. INGLOT makes better eyeshadow than lipstick I guess.

The purple lipstick questions never cease, so I’m bringing back this swatch post. I have a few more colors now but this is still a good reference.

Hi~ A quite delayed response to someone’s question about what our favorite ‘summer red’ lipsticks were - Arabelle posted her favorites here.

  1. Eros: NYX Round Lipstick ($2-4) - As Arabelle mentioned in her favorite post, these are some of our favorite drugstore lipsticks (along with the Lip Perfection lipsticks) and these lipsticks have been swatched to finish and beyond. The colors are hits and misses with a lot of similar shades, but in general they are really nice. This is my favorite orange-based red.
  2. Red Velvet/910D: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color ($2) - This was a recent addition to my lipstick collection, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I had to mention it. This is a ‘traditional’ blue-based red with really nice wear. …it wore five hours on me before starting to wear off. :O I will say that if you have a problem with dry lips or your lips easily chap, you might want to steer away from this product. My lips are usually okay with just about everything, and this formula dries them out badly without a good lip balm.
  3. Classy Coral/Q500: CoverGirl Queen Collection Lipcolor Lipstick ($6-7) - I hesitated in including this color, because it’s just on the border of not being red, but eh. This is a more terracotta red with some brown undertones, and it’s a more business casual, work-appropriate red for the daytime. It also has the same wear time and formula as my other Lip Perfection lipsticks from the CoverGirl line.

Someone asked us what our favorite red lippies were, these are mine.

  1. F-Bomb: Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color ($19) - Formula is a dream to me, lasts as long as a lip stain. This is a very pure red to me. I usually prefer more raspberry reds but if you’re looking for a FIRE ENGINE RED BAM PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE RED this might be it. I love the formula of these pencils over traditional lipstick like NARS or Illamasqua, which have great pigmentation but are drying and harder to apply on the go.
  2. Femme: NYX Round Lipstick ($2) - I also really love Eros, another red from this line. Chi-Chi and I really like NYX Round Lippies, there are plenty of swatches of them on the blog if you look. This is an orangey red. I think it looks great sheered up a little with a balm and paired with apricot blush and lots of mascara. Very spring.
  3. Fire & Ice: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick ($5) - Revlon has great drugstore lippies in terms of pigmentation, but they are very drying compared to CoverGirl lipsticks, PD’s favorite drugstore lipstick brand. This appears very similar in these photos compared to NYX’s but it’s a bit darker and more red. Very cool toned. I think it’s a very classy red.
  4. Eternal: CoverGirl ($6) For some reason the Eternal I see online is not the same as the one I have — way more purple, mine is a reddish raspberry magenta situation and I wear it like, every day. I guess it’s not a red, but I’m including it because I love it THAT MUCH and I highly recommend all of CoverGirl’s lipsticks from this line.

…so there was a good discount on drugstore.com a couple weeks ago on CoverGirl products (read: 30 percent off - link) and I decided to haul Lip Perfection lipsticks because they are some of the best lipsticks ever. EVER. …so I got six. >.> Completely justifiable okay you would do the same thing etc. Also, sign up for drugstore.com emails. Sometimes, they are amazing. *_* That said, the colors I purchased were…

  • Temptress - mid-toned pink with silver shimmer (silver not too noticeable on the lips)
  • Fairytale - pink with a bit of coral
  • Spellbound - bright fuchsia pink
  • Hot - orange-based red
  • Soulmate - darker red with gold glitter (this is some frosty stuff)
  • Fervor - mauve? ???? dark rose pink? (describing colors is not my strong suit)

Plus swatches!! :D I didn’t actually plan to take swatches, but after taking the rest of the pictures, I just had to see the colors and I took a picture of them. ;; These lipsticks are some of my favorite, high end or drugstore. In the last picture, Fairytale is on top, and then from left to right, Spellbound, Hot, Soulmate, Fervor, and Temptress.

As always, feel free to drop an ask if you would like a review. Toodles~

favorite drugstore products of 2011

You asked, we delivered: our favorite drugstore products of 2011. We did a favorite drugstore eyeliners post you guys liked here, just for reference (and also to avoid unnecessary asks re: drugstore eyeliners. We get a lot.) Some of these aren’t necessarily 2011 releases but they’re products we reach for time and time again, not just over other drugstore products but high end equivalents, too.
