New pretties! The Rose and Deep in Earth, along with event-exclusives Forever is Mercy Built and G’milut Chasadim. 5mls of The Raptures and Roses of Vice and Sound of Insects are on the way… *drools*

My stash might sort of be taking over my entire dresser - only the stuff I love and wear frequently is out! The rest is in a backup box or in the drawer shown.

So MANY PERFUME SAMPLES!!! I just received my first batch of samples from them a few days ago and am testing them out now. Perfume is so interesting and strange and lovely, and BPAL especially so. Can’t wait to finish  testing them.

Quick snap of things I’ve been trying out or can’t wait to. Some of these were purchased by me, some were gifted, * means gifted but obvi doesn’t impact my feelings about the actual product because duh integrity.
Illamasqua Foundation ($44) - I purchased this months ago during the sale but I haven’t used it yet and I’m still feeling weird about using Illamasqua products since their terrible handling of their Christmas promotions (just google it, I know we’ll be asked, and I’m not going to talk about it anymore). Illamasqua has amazing, high quality products especially their lipsticks and foundation for super pale people who want intense coverage.
Arrojo Styling Whip* ($18) - I get my hair cut at ARROJO (pics of my hair here) and love both their dry shampoo and their Styling Whip. I never used styling products on my hair when it was long but I think it’s so important now because my hair is super malleable and if I don’t control it at such a short length it can look weird. This is super light and easy to use — a little bit through damp hair to shape it the way you want, and you can air dry. Most mousses and gels etc I’ve tried have been too tacky or gooey but this isn’t.
Mario Badescu Caviar Night Cream ($20) - I buy all my MB products during the Hautelook sales but they didn’t have the toner I liked so I picked this and the lotion instead. This is quite thick! I think the Ren one I like to use but ran out of is more like a super creamy lotion, but this is definitely more whipped. I’m still testing it out, I’ll let you know how I like it in a little bit.
Balenciaga L’Essence ($135) - I’ve totally talked to death about this. Yeah yeah perfect perfume I love it etc.
Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer ($39) - Rebought this because I’ve already hit pan on my first one after only a few months! It’s been steadfast in favorites posts since I purchased it.
China Glaze Polish & L’Oreal’s Paparazzi Pleaser ($5.99)* - Haven’t used these yet since I’m currently obsessed with Color Club Glitters.
Shoprite Oil Free Makeup Remover ($7.99) - I remove all my makeup using DHC Cleansing Oil now usually but if I have a lot of eye makeup on, I use some variation of the Nuetrogena remover. Target, Shoprite, etc… pretty much all the same formula. I like it best out of all the ones I’ve tried which have often been too oily or weirdly harsh.
Illamasqua Poised Illuminator ($20) - I am fond of using illuminators and contour and no blush, so I bought this one also during the sale because I was curious. Still haven’t touched it though.
Illamasqua Indulge ($22) - Illamasqua’s lip products have never failed me and make up a good chunk of my collection. Pigmented, super glossy or super matte depending on the producted, but never crappy.
Mario Badescu Alpha Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion ($15) - I like using this post cleansing and it really makes a difference for my dry skin — helps it glow, looks brighter etc.

Scentheads: Favorite Perfumes

Kind of been neglecting my internet duties (aka every job I have, MY BAD, EDITORS) for a well deserved spring break but I have not forsaken you, my cute, well lacquered darlings. In fact when I got home today at 1am I decided to sit right down and tell you all about my new obsession with perfumes. I am now a perfumehead. I live and breathe for signature scents. It’s terrible — like I need another pricey obsession, like lipstick, lingerie, leather jackets and vintage clothing weren’t enough cash sucks. No matter. I want to share with you my favorite scents! Note none of these were given to me, I purchase all my perfumes with my own money, though these are affiliate links. Of course, you don’t have to use them.

Details on each one — the base notes, head, heart, price etc after the jump.

100ml Eau de Toilette

2013 marks the regeneration of the BLACK COMME des GARÇONS concept through the launch of BLACK COMME des GARÇONS Eau de Toilette, an emergency, guerrilla like, spiced-up new scent.

Ingredients:

Head: Black pepper from Madagascar and incense from Somalia
Heart: Leather, liquorice, birtch tar and pepper wood
Base: Cedarwood and vetiver

This is literally everything I want in a fragrance. I wanted to buy it today but they don’t have it in stock at Jeffrey’s yet. :(

I don’t know about you, but I consider bath-time to be a religious experience and every bath involves at least three candles. This is my new favorite and I don’t know if I can truly emphasize how obsessed I am.  I literally want to melt it into perfume oil and swim in it and sweat it out and cry tears that smell of this candle and I just…I have a lot of feelings about this. If you like Balenciaga’s perfume personality (“perfume personality”) you will die over this. To wit: the top notes are bergamot and plum, middle notes of rum and leather, and the base notes are amber-patchouli and vanilla. Super sexy and #FASHION. They also have a dark rum body wash, hand soap…. oh my god, I’m going to drench myself in it. <3__<3
(MALIN+GOETZ) dark rum candle, $52.

Full disclosure: Mine was a gift from a heyheygorgeous event— but I am certainly going to visit their store in person to smell everything rum related and take quite a bit home! It’s the scent of my soul.

Not really a perfume head, I’m way too picky and broke for that hobby. My favorites though:

  • Balenciaga Paris L’Essence ($100) - I wish I could bathe in this. This is number 1 in my heart forever. Balenciaga’s perfumes are my absolute favorite. I have so so many sample perfume sticks shoved into my clothes to make them smell like this because I can’t bring myself to buy this for myself yet. It’s the Ultimate, though.
  • Kat von D Sinner/Saint Perfumes ($58) - A girl I love bought me the duo rollerball of this and they smell really, really good. I’m picky with perfume smells and hate fruity or floral scents and usually hate smelling like food too. So basically I like these scents because they are none of those things, and because she got it for me. These are both very straight forward, simple scents.
  • Dior Poison ($90) - I usually wear this only when I am dressing like Satan’s Bride and seek to make all those who pass me by bend to my will. It makes me feel badass but it doesn’t feel 100% me, but it smells like, aspirational? This is why I don’t review perfumes, I have no idea what I’m talking about.
  • Burberry Brit by Burberry ($72) - Some douchebag I used to know used to wear this, which frustrated me because he was such a little asswipe but smelled excellent all the time. I took satisfaction in the fact that every time he pissed me off I’d steal his cologne for myself. It’s too good for him to use and is obviously meant for me more anyway.
