HOW-TO: STILA SPRING 2014 AD CAMPAIGN INSPIRED LOOK
Stila’s fall 2014 ads feature fresh skin, bright eyes, peachy cheeks and a pink lip. While I share little to no features with the model, I still wanted to make this fun spring look work for me. Here’s what I came up with.
For the base, I wanted good coverage while still achieving glowing skin. So I used the L’Oreal True Match foundation in N9 because that things got crazy good coverage. To give the all over glow, I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light. This setting powder has a fine golden radiance to it that really compliments warmer skin tones.
For the cheeks, I used theBalm Instain Blush in Swiss Dot. It is a peachy pink that is universally flattering, has incredible lasting powder, and is matte, which is preferred when using such a reflective setting powder all over the face.
Now on my eyes. I chose to tone down the liner to make it more wearable for my everyday life. I also decided to pick a bright blue instead of green (partially because I like blue better, also because I didn’t feel like running out to buy the green). I used the Sephora Waterproof Liner in Pool Party but then created a double liner with a NYX Black Liquid Liner. I feel like pairing a bright liner with black underneath makes it a little less in your face, and a little less intimidating. In the inner lower lash line I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barely Branded because in the photo it looks like she has a white gold champagne colour there.
Last but not least, the lips. I chose to use MAC Vegas Volt for my lips; It is the perfect summer coral and has a great opaque finish. I’ve owned two tubes of this which is saying something since I have enough lipstick to never need to buy another again.
There we have it! My take on the Stila ad campaign. No matter what the look, you can always make something work for you. You just gotta play around with it a bit.
