My sister is 13, and just starting in makeup. However, she's also just starting into acne. What can you suggest for drugstore makeup that won't bother her acne, or might actually help it? She buys most of her own, so price is a big issue for her. (Though her birthday is coming up, so I may be able to help her out)

See, the thing with acne is, it depends on the exact cause of her acne and what type of acne it is. When you do find a foundation/tinted moisturizer/face makeup base, I would definitely recommend looking at Lisa Eldridge’s video for covering blemishes and covering acne here. For some people with sensitive skin, Neutrogena’s foundations work really well for them, especially the Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Makeup. Of course, this depends if Salicylic Acid works for her acne or not.

Other than that, I recommend getting base makeup that’s oil-free and seeing what products her skin reacts to in dealing with her acne - here’s an awesome post from a guest contribution on Temptalia about acne and treatment options. Honestly, for me (Chi-Chi), since I have ridiculously sensitive skin, the best advice I can give would be to focus on the skincare in controlling the acne first. Makeup is nice and all, but a nice skincare routine does the face wonders.
